Devices and Mac OS X version
So here are a few tweaks for all those people who use VLC Media Player either on Windows, Mac or Linux. These settings would be the same for all of these platforms. Fire up your VLC Media player. Now Go to Tools Effects and Filters Audio Effects Tab; Now go to the Graphics Equalizer tab. Check the 2-Pass option. The 'Flat' Audio Equalizer is the default choice; I don't set the Audio Equalizer to 'Flat' and never stated so, for you to assume and infer I did makes you look ignorant. By Default, the Pre-Amp for the 'Flat' Audio Equalizer is set to above the zero point. By Default, the Flat Audio Equalizer and Pre-Amp are on. By Default, the audio distorts. Equalization (audio) VLC features a 10-band graphical equalizer, a device used to alter the relative frequencies of audio (e.g. For a bass boost). You can display it by activating the advanced GUI on wxWidgets or by clicking the Equalizer button on the macOS interface.
VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later. It runs on any Mac with a 64-bit Intel processor or an Apple Silicon chip. Previous devices are supported by older releases.
Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported. Please use version 2.0.10 linked below.

Web browser plugin for Mac OS X
Support for NPAPI plugins was removed from all modern web browsers, so VLC's plugin is no longer maintained. The last version is 3.0.4 and can be found here. It will not receive any further updates.

We provide older releases for users who wish to deploy our software on legacy releases of Mac OS X. You can find recommendations for the respective operating system version below. Note that support ended for all releases listed below and hence they won't receive any further updates.
